KITCHEN WORKTOPS

Granite has a timeless look about it and every piece is unique. Granite is formed from Igneous rock which is fromed when the magma beneath the earths surface cools and solidifies. This rock contains complex minerals which form crytals. The granite worktops surface depends on the arrangement of these crystals.
Granite worktops are waterproof, stain-resistant, easily sterilised and almost
impossible to scratch, and will maintain their diamond-polished
looks for years. Hot pans, spills and every-day activities

making hygiene very easy.

you decide we have prepared some guidelines.
As with any high quality worktops, care should be taken
against possible scoring with knives or other cutting tools
and chopping-boards should always be used.
Granite worktops have a polished surface which will retain
its polish and colour for a great many years and the only maintenance
required is regular washing with clean, hot, soapy water to remove
surface dirt.
Granite can deal with spillages such as wines, oils and acidic substances but they should be
wiped clean immediately to prevent the possibility of staininging
will occur, this is characteristic of natural stone.
Granite worktops are
highly heat resistant and hot pans can be placed directly on the
surface for short periods making it ideal in the kitchen. Care should
be exercised if spillages should occur with hot fat or oils and
these should be removed immediately to prevent staining.
Unlike man-made products, granite kitchen worktops are a material which has a natural make-up and beauty which is impossible to recreate under factory conditions. Variations in colour and veining will occur, this is characteristic of natural stone.

Information- Care and Maintenance Guide
Our Granite Worktops Home Care Kit contains Neutral Detergent, Stone
Sealer, and Stone Polishing Cream for ongoing care and maintenance
of stone worksurfaces. Kits can be obtained from us.
- In normal use, clean granite worktops
regularly with water containing a mild detergent or Neutral
Detergent (see above) or a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse off granite worktops
with clean water. Polish dry with a soft cloth. Alternatively,
use our 'E-cloth' surface cleaning system for a consistent smear
free finish every time.
- Avoid use of abrasive cleaning materials: scouring powders, steel wool, metal brushes on granite worktops.
- Never use bleach on granite worktops or other chlorine
based cleaners, acids, photographic development liquid, alkalis
(caustic soda) and concentrated disinfectants on stone surfaces.
If any of these come into contact with the granite, clean them
off immediately, otherwise surface damage will occur.
- Do not allow surface deposits to build
up on granite kitchen worktops, e.g., powder detergents, salts.
- Strongly coloured foodstuffs, such as blackcurrant and beetroot, can stain granite worktops. Acidic foodstuffs such as citrus juice, vinegars and cola will etch the stone surface. Clean any spills of these up as soon as they occur. Regular use of the liquid silicone cleaner will reduce the tendency for staining.
- Always use pan stands and trivets to
protect granite worktops from hot, rough and wet pots, pans
and utensils. Direct contact from iron, steel, ceramic and copper
vessels can scratch and stain the stone surfaces.
- Always use cutting boards to slice and
chop food upon. Never cut directly onto granite worktops
- Granite is a natural material. The variations
in its structure, pattern, colour are characteristic and constitute
part of its appeal and value.
- Over time, with normal kitchen use,
granite worktops will acquire a patina that reflects the use
to which they have been put. It is normal for the original high
sheen to weather in this way and characteristic for granite
to mellow with the passage of time.
- Dull patches on granite kitchen worktops, caused by high wear and surface deposits can be restored by use of our polishing cream which is included in our Home care Kit. |
